Orlando Renaissance Festival

Hello Again!

I wanted to do something a little different than share a book I read or a recipe and share an adventure I went on this past weekend. I won't write too much here so you can read more below. Enjoy!

Bill Fredrick Turkey Lake Park, Orlando, FL

December 1-3, 2017

We set out on our Renaissance Adventure on Saturday afternoon and I had no idea what to expect. It was quite a warm afternoon but in the shade it was pretty nice. I hadn't been to Turkey Lake Park since I had run a Color Rave 5K two years before and I have to say it was marvelous in the daytime. The festival backed up to the lakes and all the tents were different colors, I felt transported to another time (which was the point of the festival I supposed).

I hadn't set out alone though. I set out with my fiance, Pablo, and my blog buddy Ashley and her boyfriend Trevor. They had been to another Renaissance Festival about a month before so you could say they were experienced festival goers.

Kathleen McGloin Braids

One of the vendors I found most interesting was a woman who does all kinds of interesting hair braids. I haven't cut my hair in quite some time in preparation for my wedding and thought I would give it a try because my hair is so long. I got the 5 Strand Question Braid (pictured below). She makes countless other interesting braids that are featured on her Facebook page. Click the link below to find out more.

Chelsea Smith Art

While walking around the tents, I stumbled upon an artist that had some beautiful sketches of animals. Her name is Chelsea Smith and she does these sketches on copper which I thought was really unique. I bought the above print which is a giclee print of a copper etching and is called "Rhiannon". Chelsea is a UCF grad and has many other really beautiful sketches and other pieces of art, click the link below to check out her portfolio and her Etsy shop!

Central Florida Archery

I have always had an interest in archery. I even took lessons with Pablo 2 summers ago when I was living closer to UCF. I was excited to try my hand at archery again at the festival even for a short time. Pablo shot better than I did but I still hit the target and it was great fun! The archery was put on by Central Florida Archery and their website is linked below if you want to learn more.

Bonus Pictures: The boys acting silly... do I spy Robin Hood? Lol

As well as the events listed above, there were also many performers and food vendors as well as art vendors and craft vendors. It was an awesome time and if I had more time last weekend, I would have gone back to explore more. This pretty much sums up my adventure at the Orlando Renaissance Festival. Tune in to my adventure to the Central Florida Scottish Highland Games next month.

Hail to the Renaissance Festival! Enjoy your December!
