December OwlCrate Unboxing
Hello Again!
It's that time of the month! Time to unbox some bookish goodies, the first to arrive were from OwlCrate. The theme of this month's OwlCrate was "Seize the Day". This box promised to contain a contemporary novel about theater and making unlikely friends with an OwlCrate exclusive cover. Items in the box would be inspired by Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and more! I was pretty excited to receive this box. Read on to see what exactly was in this mysterious little crate. Enjoy!
BEHOLD ALL THE BOOKISH GOODIES
Starting on the left, I received a double- sided bookmark from Little Inklings Designs created exclusively for this crate. On one side it features a quote from The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner and on the other side it features a quote from The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. The adorably designed round object is a magnet inspired by the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. This magnet was designed by Ink & Wonder Designs and is going up on my fridge! Check out more of their products here.
Next was a mini candle made by Novelly Yours and inspired by the novel The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord. It smells like caramel apple and has blue glitter on top which makes it extra magical. Check out more of Novelly Yours' magical wares here.
The item on the right is a wooden ornament inspired by the novel Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and was created exclusively for OwlCrate by Juniper and Ivy Designs. Check out more of their products here.
I was in love with the next item in the crate, a 2018 planner that featured a book log and quotes from previous OwlCrate book picks. This item was made in an exclusive partnership between OwlCrate and Blue Star Press. I already have a planner for next year but I may have to just use this instead because of how well it fits a need I didn't know I needed filled!
If you are a follower of my Instagram page then you will know that I received my Uppercase box the day before I received my OwlCrate and you will also know that this novel was also featured this month for Uppercase. I'm not sure how this happened but I think it's pretty ironic! It is pretty cool that I have two version of the same book now though as this version comes with an exclusive cover. From what I gathered from the synopsis, Foolish Hearts is about the rivalry between two girls in high school who are forced to act together in a version of A Midsummer Night's Dream. This type of novel is definitely off the path of what I have read lately but I am looking forward to giving this novel a try. A signed bookplate, letter and embroidered patch were also included in the book sleeve.
The last bookish item in the crate was an awesome Harry Potter themed tote bag with extra long handles which featured a Ron Weasley quote and many magical designs. This tote was made exclusively for this crate by Bookworm Boutique and I can't wait to carry all my blog and business supplies around in it so I can stop losing things! I love the color as well. Like last month, this month's crate included a detailed information card about the origin of all the products in the crate, a button featuring the monthly crate design, and a brochure with information about this month's author and vendors, information about next month's crate, information about posting contests and games. I like how OwlCrate takes the time to explain to you about their products, it shows how much care goes into curating the items for each box.
The theme for next month's crate is Fearsome Fairy Tales. The novel will take place in the brutal world of faeries and is filled with secrets, politics, betrayal, and romance. Items in this box will be inspired by classic fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty, Hansel & Gretel, Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, and more. I am really excited for this box because Rapunzel is my favorite Disney princess and Tangled is my favorite Disney movie and I love fairy tales. It will be exciting to see what they do with this box.
That's all for this month's OwlCrate! Stay tuned to see my first Bookish Box unboxing (hoping it might come on my birthday on Tuesday!) See you next time!
