December Bookish Box Unboxing
Hello again! Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas spent with family and friends! I know I certainly did. I received my second YA Crate this month from Bookish Box and wanted to unbox it for you. The theme of this month's Bookish Box was Destined and was inspired by Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and Throne of Glass. See my review of the box below. Enjoy!
One of the first items in the box is a wooden ornament that features a book design with some really great books including; Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, A Christmas Carol, etc. The ornament was made by Hello World Paper Co. I loved this and immediately put it on my Christmas tree. This box also included this month's bookish doodle which can be colored and entered in a contest to win the next month's box free.
One of the other things in the box was a mug that featured a design from Throne of Glass and was created by The Watercolorie. I didn't really like the design on this mug. It was kind of scary looking and after seeing the design online (which looked alot better) I think it just doesn't look as good because of how they shrank it to put it on the mug.
The other item was a Harry Potter themed candle from Whiskey Diamond Candle Co. I couldn't tell what the scent was called but it had a lovely crisp, floral smell and had bits of gold flake inside. I loved the size of this candle as well as the store's Etsy shop, they had a bunch of great scents to love and I'm sure I'll be buying from them soon.
The next item in the box was a Game of Thrones print illustrated by @DaniMarieDraws. I was not a huge fan of this print. There's something off about the way the dragon looks and Dany looks a little snooty. This was one of the more disappointing items in the box.
The last item in the box was the novel, Shadow Girl by Liana Liu. The theme of this month's box was Destined and was inspired by Throne of Glass, Game of Thrones, and Harry Potter. Having known this information, I expected to receive a book with an epic storyline and a character with a destiny. After reading the synopsis of the novel, it doesn't seem like the novel belongs in this box. See the synopsis here. I definitely still plan on reading the novel, however, I am not as excited as I might have been about another novel.
Overall, I was pretty disappointed with my first Bookish Box. I was really excited after hearing the theme and inspirations for this box and it was hyped on social media extensively over the last month. I have since cancelled my Bookish Box subscription and will be trying a new YA crate subscription next month.
Thanks for reading guys, stay tuned for my review of Before She Ignites later this week!
