Top 10 Non- Disney Animated Movies

Hello Again!

I can't believe it's only the 14th on January, it feels like we should be further into January (at least to me). I hope everyone is having a good January so far! I wanted to do a Top 10 Non- Disney Animated Movies since my blog buddy, Ashley, and I had an impromptu movie marathon last week and watched a few animated movies. Enjoy!

10. Shrek (2001)

Shrek was a truly unique movie when it came out because it went against the traditional princess being rescued by the prince trope. I loved this movie when I was younger and used to listen to the soundtrack with my cousins.

9. Thumbelina (1994)

This was one of my favorite movies when I was very young. I haven't seen it in quite some time but I fondly remember afternoons watching it. I feel like this movie often gets overlooked among the many animated movies of the 1990's and 2000's.

8. The Road to El Dorado (2000)

I got introduced to this movie later in life, by my fiance, Pablo. This was one of his favorite animated movies growing up and it's easy to see why. This movie has catchy songs, a decent plot and well rounded characters. It reminds me of Disney's Journey to Atlantis (even the titles are similar).

7. The Thief and the Cobbler (1993)

This movie is not very well known but I have very distinct memories of watching this movie when I was younger. This is a rather bizarre movie with a unique animation style but it is lovable. It is something that everyone needs to watch at least once and will probably want to watch again.

6. The Swan Princess (1994)

I read the story behind this movie in several fairy tale books growing up but I love the movie version of this story the most. There is something so lovable about the animal sidekicks and the songs are on point. The main characters are also excellently played. I have watched this movie several times over the years.

5. Quest for Camelot (1998)

I have always loved Arthurian legend and have enjoyed any version of the story I could get my hands on in any form. I loved this movie as a child and this may have been what started my love for Arthurian legend. This movie has a great romance and an amazing soundtrack. It also has leads cast by all star actors. I still watch this movie and love it.

4. How to Train Your Dragon 1 and 2 (2010/2014)

Before the first film came out, I had not fallen in love with an animated movie in quite some time. This movie has a charming cast and a refreshing story line. Plus the dragons are fierce and beyond adorable. When the second movie came out, it too was amazing which does not always happen with animated movies. The second movie never fails to bring me to tears.

3. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002)

As an avid horse lover, it's an obvious choice that Spirit would be in my top 10. This was my absolute favorite movie when I was younger and remains one of my favorite movies today. This movie has an excellent soundtrack (thanks Hans Zimmer) and is voiced by an all- star cast. It never ceases to bring me to tears.

2. The Prince of Egypt (1998)

This is a rather well known animated film that got alot of prestige when it came out, even winning an Oscar for best original song. The production quality of this film is staggering. This film features an all star cast and an amazing soundtrack and it is another film that never ceases to bring me to tears.

1. Anastasia (1997)

Anastasia is in my opinion, one of the best animated movies ever made. It has an amazing story, set of characters and the soundtrack is out of this world. It got made into a Broadway play last year and seeing it is on my bucket list. I never get tired of watching this movie and it will always be one of my favorite movies.

Hope you enjoyed my Top 10! Are there any on your Top 10 that weren't on here? Leave a comment down below!
