January OwlCrate Unboxing

Hello Again!

It's time for another crate unboxing! This month's OwlCrate came a little later than expected but since the Unicorn Crate came a little earlier than expected, it all balanced out. This month's theme was "Fearsome Fairy Tales" and was one I was really looking forward to. Read on to see what was in the crate

January OwlCrate- "Fearsome Fairy Tales"

SPOILER WARNING

This crate didn't contain as many goodies as some of the other crates have but it did have some very unique items and I thought they were pretty great.

The first item in the crate were wax melts in the scent "Hansel and Gretel". They had a gingerbread scent and also the most lovely purple color. These were made exclusively for OwlCrate by Spireside Candles.

The next item was a ceramic burner to use with the wax melts. It was made by OwlCrate and can be used with wax melts or essential oils. It had a beautiful milky marble finish on it that was unique to every burner and a star and moon pattern cut into it. The only thing I didn't like about this is that it didn't come with a tea light candle so I could burn the wax melts. I don't really have any sitting around so to use it I'm going to have to go get some!

The next item in the crate was a handmade bracelet from Authored Adornments. It features a quote from Rapunzel and a black leather strap. If you don't already know, Rapunzel is my FAVORITE princess so I loved this item although I will probably keep it to display more than wear it.

The next item in the crate was a Red Riding Hood inspired print made by Anne Lambert and made exclusively for OwlCrate. I love the details in this print because you don't catch them all when you first glance at it and I really enjoyed this item in the box.

The last item in the crate was a pillowcase featuring a design from Stella's Bookish Art and made exclusively for OwlCrate inspired by Sleeping Beauty. I didn't unfold this item all the way but know the design is magnificent (or is it Maleficent, haha) and very cozy.

This month's book was The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I have been really excited to read this book since before it came out and since I knew it was coming in the crate this month, I held off on buying it so that I could have the exclusive cover that came in the crate. See the synopsis of The Cruel Prince below to see why it looks like such a great read (plus the rave reviews it's been receiving).

"Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences. In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself."

The crate also came with information about next month's theme, as usual. Next month's theme is Hidden Worlds and the book is a highly anticipated story about a girl who ventures into a sinister land of fairy tales in an effort to rescue her mother. It sounds similar to the theme of this month to me but only time will tell! Next month's crate will also feature an extra large and exclusive item from Evie Bookish which is a type of item that has never been included ebfore so I'm excited to see what is planned!
