February OwlCrate Unboxing

Hello Again! I was surprised to get my OwlCrate early this month! My shipping email said it wouldn't arrive until Tuesday but it was on the porch when I got home Sunday. The February theme was Hidden Worlds and was inspired by the fandoms of The Chronicles of Narnia, Coraline, Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Alice and Wonderland. I was also excited for the book pick this month which was about a girl who ventures deep into a land of sinister fairy tales in an effort to rescue her mother. See what was in my OwlCrate below! Enjoy!

Hidden Worlds- February 2018

Box Goodies

Through the Wardrobe Candle: this is a handmade soy candle that smells like pine, vanilla, and mint inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia. It was made exclusively for OwlCrate by Books On Candles. I was not a big fan of this smell, it smells kind of like menthol to me and I hate that smell but I love that it's inspired by Narnia!

Skeleton Key Necklace: this necklace was inspired by the movie, Coraline, featuring a button on the key. This was created for this box by the OwlCrate team. I've never seen this movie so this item wasn't really for me but this is definitely a unique item!

Alice in Wonderland Sticker: the other small item in this crate was a sticker inspired by Alice in Wonderland. This sticker features an Alice and the White Rabbit design and was designed by Naomi Lord. I love the designs Naomi Lord has done and have bought from her before, this is a great item!

Zippered Pouch: this item features a quote from Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor and was illustrated exclusively for OwlCrate by Risa Rodil. I've never read this novel but have wanted to since I read Strange the Dreamer. I love the colors on this and it has a great design.

Wall Tapestry: this was a unique and one of a kind item that has never been included in an OwlCrate before! This beautiful wall tapestry was designed exclusively for OwlCrate by EvieBookish and features this lovely quote. I can't wait to hang this in my library nook, this design is beautiful and whimsical! This is my favorite item of the crate!

Book Pick of the Month

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

I was excited to get my hands on this months read because the synopsis of this book intrigued me. I also love the OwlCrate exclusive cover (all green instead of black). This book was also signed by the author which is a great feature and came with an author letter and some stickers. I have heard some not so great things about this book from people who have already read it but I like to withhold judgment until I read a book myself. See the book synopsis below!

"Seventeen-year-old Alice and her mother have spent most of Alice’s life on the road, always a step ahead of the uncanny bad luck biting at their heels. But when Alice’s grandmother, the reclusive author of a cult-classic book of pitch-dark fairy tales, dies alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, Alice learns how bad her luck can really get: her mother is stolen away―by a figure who claims to come from the Hinterland, the cruel supernatural world where her grandmother's stories are set. Alice's only lead is the message her mother left behind: “Stay away from the Hazel Wood.” Alice has long steered clear of her grandmother’s cultish fans. But now she has no choice but to ally with classmate Ellery Finch, a Hinterland superfan who may have his own reasons for wanting to help her. To retrieve her mother, Alice must venture first to the Hazel Wood, then into the world where her grandmother's tales began―and where she might find out how her own story went so wrong."

Next Month's Theme

At the bottom of the crate was the card announcing next month's theme! Next months theme is going to be Across the Galaxy! The book pick will feature a story inspired by Anastasia, but set in space. This books will be an exclusive edition with stained pages and this book will also be signed by the author and I can't wait to get my hands on it! Items in this crate will be inspired by The Illuminae Files, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star Wars. I think this is going to be an exciting crate and I can't wait to get my hands on it!
