Goodies

  • Double sided tassel bookmark featuring quotes from Flame in the Mist and The Wrath and the Dawn designed by Indigo Eleven This bookmark features 2 good quotes (one from a book I have read and one not) and is designed nicely, but I don't like tassels in my bookmarks

  • Zelie bath bomb made by Whipped Up Wonderful Another book I haven't had the chance to read yet and I also don't own a bathtub making using this item a little hard. I wish they would include shower fizzies instead!

  • Hermione Granger quote enamel pin made by Out of Print I'm obsessed with enamel pins lately and this one is quite lovely. Hermione is a badass.

  • Inej art print designed by Melanie Bourgeois I never got into Six of Crows but this print is stunning. Great design!

  • Sky in the Deep exclusive shield pin from the author, Adrienne Young I love that some book swag was included with this month's book. This pin is awesome!

  • ACOTAR Series wall hanging designed by Evie Bookish I love things that I'm able to hang on the wall and the fact that it features an ACOMAF quote is even better. Can't wait to hang this up!

Books of the Month

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

I have been looking forward to reading this book for quite some time. This book is very highly anticipated in the book community and I've always loved vikings. It seems that they're all the rage this year and I can't wait to dig into this story of betrayal and family.

Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: fight and survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefield — her brother, fighting with the enemy — the brother she watched die five years ago. Faced with her brother's betrayal, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbor is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan thought to be a legend, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family. She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brother’s friend, who sees her as a threat. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family while daring to put her faith in the people she’s spent her life hating.

Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan

This book was a total surprise and it looks to be a great story. Although I haven't heard anything about this particular book, if it comes recommended from OwlCrate, it's probably a pretty good read.

Witch. Betrayal. Hunted. Jayin Ijaad is in hiding. A witch with powerful abilities, she carves out a life for herself in the slums of Pavaal, a city rotting from the inside out. When an old acquaintance tracks her down, Jayin is dragged back into a world she tried to escape -- and is determined to escape again. Maddix Kell is on the run. After two years in prison for crimes he did not commit, Maddix escapes and seeks out a legendary order of witchhunters who are his only chance to find justice. But all is not as it seems and Maddix soon finds himself on the run from the people he sought as allies. When their paths collide, Jayin and Maddix must put aside their prejudices and forge an uneasy alliance that could crumble at any moment. But if they want to survive in Aestos -- a brutal kingdom where magic and corruption lie hand in hand and enemies lurk around every corner -- they must first survive each other.

Crate Score

Although I didn't love all the items in this crate (I'm looking at you bath bomb) it had some unique items that I did love AND it included a second book. Pretty awesome in my opinion. I'm going to be skipping next month's box because I am not a fan of contemporaries.

That's it for this unboxing. Hope you enjoyed these badass ladies included in this box. My Illumicrate unboxing is up next! Now enjoy this GIF of Xena!
