BookCon 2018 Wrap Up
Hello Again!
Hope everyone had a good weekend! If you didn't already know, I spent the weekend in NYC at BookCon! This was my first book event and I absolutely loved it. I had such an adventure and the whole weekend was such a blast. Read on to see more about my adventure!
We got to NYC on Friday before the event on Saturday and did some exploring. We got dome lunch and walked around the city, stopping in at Barnes and Noble. This was a cool B&N because it was 2 stories! I bought 4 books (woops haha) which are listed below. We went out for some Mexican food near our hotel, had alcoholic ice cream and went out to a pub! It was the best night out I've had in quite some time. :)
Now we get to the day of. I had a GIANT tote bag filled with books I hoped to get signed, promotional products for my Etsy shop and snacks! Always come prepared I always say. Getting to the Javits Center was pretty easy, especially when we got closer and could follow the throng of Con goers. My first reaction was how large the convention center was and how many super sized banners there were. After being stunned, I was onto my first event!
My first event of the day was the Fierce Reads Author Breakfast that I won a ticket to! It was an amazing experience that was truly once in a lifetime. We sat at tables with 4 or 5 people and 2 authors at a time would rotate to each table for about 10 minutes and chat! Authors I got to meet include Tomi Adeyemi, Stephanie Garber, Jennifer Armentrout, Kami Garcia, Susan Dennard, Marissa Meyer, and V.E. Schwab! (among others) I got lots of cool swag including 4 ARCs, some prints and other promotional products and a tote bag signed by all the authors! It was truly amazing and a great start to the day.
It was all a little overwhelming from this point on. The show floor was massive and nothing was easy to find. I missed my panel I had picked out for after the breakfast so I decided to wander a little. I met up with my friend, Nikki, and talked a bit. She dressed as one of my favorite book characters! I met a few customers and was onto my first (and only) panel! The panel was called Fearless Women in Science Fiction and Fantasy and it featured V.E. Schwab along with some other authors I didn't know. It was a great chance to hear some writers talk about women and the important role they play in today's publishing and writing. It was really interesting especially since I've been playing around with the idea of writing.
After this, I mostly just wandered through the show floor and met up with my friend, Ashley. We did some window shopping and even got a chance to win one of 4 ARCs! I got Light Years and she got The Summer of Us. After having been at the convention for 6 long hours, we decided to call it a day and head back to the hotel.
I had a great haul from our time in NYC! From the books I bought at Barnes and Noble, to all my goodies from BookCon! I now have an even longer TBR that I will hopefully be able to get through some day!
Barnes and Noble
Ink by Alice Broadway I've had my eye on this book because of it's gorgeous cover, glad I finally got my hands on it!

Shadow Run by AdriAnne Strickland This sci- fi novel has a great concept and I think my husband would enjoy it also!
Into the Dim by Janet B. Taylor I was drawn in by the mysterious cover and then even more so when I saw it was in the same vein as Outlander and was promoted by Diana Gabaldon! I can't wait to get into this book.

Overall, it was an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back next year. I'm also excited for YALLFest this November and Bealitful Con in January! Hope you enjoyed this wrap up! Have a great week.
