July Wrap Up
Hello lovelies!
This has been another banner month for me, reading wise. I honestly thought last month was a fluke. I didn't think I'd be able to read so much again this month, but here we are. Summer is leaving us in a hurry it seems and fall is upon us. I don't know about you guys but I'm ready for the season and for a change in weather. Any who, read on to see what I read this month. Enjoy!
A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan (ARC)
I started my month with this eARC and it exceeded my expectations. It had mythology, romance, and high seas adventure. I highly recommend this book when it releases on August 14th if you enjoy these things!

Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne
I also decided to read this gem again. This Jane Eyre retelling in space is one of my absolute favorite reads this year and I was craving a reread. If you enjoyed Jane Eyre or just like really well written sci- fi romance, give this one a read!

Graceling by Kristin Cashore
This author and series has been a favorite since I was in 9th grade. It has been quite a while since I read this book, so I decided to do a reread on Audible. Listening to this book was fun because each character was voiced by someone and made this a great reading experience.

Shadow Study/ Night Study/ Dawn Study by Maria V. Snyder
I also finally finished the Chronicles of Ixia this month. This 9 book series contains 3 separate series and each book is better than the last. It was bittersweet to finish, but I enjoyed it so much and am already looking forward to a reread. SERIOUSLY, go give anything she has written a try!

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
I've been trying to get into this sequel since I read the first novel at the end of May. I found the beginning a little hard to get into, but once I did, I couldn't put it down until it was done. I honestly cannot wait to get into the third, and final novel in this series hopefully next month.

Beautiful Stranger/ Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren
Another set of rereads, these romance novels are the second and third in a long series that I have enjoyed for quite some time. These were a nice break from all the fantasy and sci- fi I have read earlier in the month.

Jessica's Guide to Dating the Dark Side/ The Wedding of Jessica and Lucius/ Jessica Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey
Here's another series where I did some rereading and also read something new. I have read the first book in this series several times since I first read it in high school, and enjoy its unique story. All these years however, I never knew she had written a novella and a sequel. It was nice to see where the characters progressed and finish up the story in earnest.

Unspoken by Jen Frederick
Yet another reread, this new adult romance is based on two college students who have troubled pasts, that find solace and hope in each other's company. I love this novel because the female characters doesn't just let the male character take care of her problems. She takes charge and that's refreshing in a romance novel.

Shattered Glass by Maria V. Snyder
This novella of Maria's Storm Glass series fills in some plot between the last storm glass book and book 7 of the chronicles of ixia series. This is a short read, but still enjoyable and quite crucial to understanding the events that are important to the plot.

Onyx and Ivory by Mindee Arnett
Our Book Club pick of the month, this epic fantasy was a great read by an author i haven't read yet. this book was pretty long but i found myself unable to stop reading. I enjoyed the magic, diverse characters, and the horse influence of this book. I'm excited to see what happens next. review to come!

Mirage by Somaiya Daud
I received this ARC from NetGalley and enjoyed this quick read. Although I thought it had some weaknesses, it was a unique story, the likes of which I have only read once. It was an enjoyable sci- fi book with middle eastern flair and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

The Matchmaker's Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken
I recently watched the film adaptation of this romance novel and really enjoyed it so I thought I would give the boo a chance as well. I'm glad I did though because there were some differences between the two, as there always are. I love romance novels set in a college setting, and this was a great quick read.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I picked up this novel (FINALLY) on a whim, because I was tired of having not read this acclaimed series. This sci- fi retelling of Cinderella is the first in a series of 4 books. I absolutely loved it and am already halfway through the second book! This was just a great easy to digest read and it had me on the edge of my seat.

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
I didn't plan to pick this up at the end of the month but just had to keep reading this series. This book was even better than Cinder and I read it in less than a day! I fell in love with the characters introduced in this book and can't wait to finish the third installment.

It seems this month was a month of rereads (and new reads)! I do love rereading stories that were once my favorites to see how they hold up. Now that August is upon us, it's almost time for the kiddies to go back to school! It's also almost been an entire year since I graduated college which is hard to believe but I am once again thankful that I don't have to go back. Have a great week and look out for my Onyx and Ivory review later this week!
