Top Ten Tuesday | Hidden Gems
Hey Guys! I'm posting my T10T a little late because I have been working myself to the bone in my Etsy shop lately. Without further ado, enjoy my hidden gems!
Poison Study Series by Maria V. Snyder
I've talked about this series alot but I can't say enough good things about it. This series is so unique and detailed and finely written. I fell in love with this series from the start and persevered through all 9 books (6 in the main series and a trilogy in between the 6). If you enjoy magic and fantasy worlds, this is an absolute MUST READ!
Storm Glass Series by maria V. Snyder
The trilogy in between books 3 and 4 of the Poison Study series, I was surprised at how much I loved these books. I was convinced they couldn't be as good as the other books but man was I wrong. These are unique in a different way than the other series and include some of the same characters. I can't wait to reread this series!
Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
I read this book way before I knew much about Alexandra Bracken and have been fond of it ever since. This is a unique tale of magic and romance and has a natural charm. I've never read her other series because I've been so concerned that I won't be able to like those as much as I enjoy this book.
His Fair Assassins Series by Robin LaFevers
Another unique series, these tales of female assassins that train at the convent of the God of Death are amazingly written and classics from the moment you read them. I especially love the first one but the entire series is phenomenal.
Graceling | Fire | Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore
These were some of the first YA books I read and I have loved them ever since. Each book focuses on a different character in the same universe and they all tie in together very nicely while also allowing you to read them separately. Of them all, I think Fire is my favorite but they are all very well written.
Eon | Eona by Alison Goodman
Another book I read early on, I stumbled upon the first book as an audio book and fell in love with the series. This was also my first audio book! I've listened and read it so many times since, I've lost count. This series has a Mulan vibe and features alot of Chinese culture and themes. It's unique and well written and I always recommend it.
The Iron Butterfly Series by Chanda Hahn
I can't remember how I found this series but I'm sure glad I did! Another story of a protagonist finding magic, the characters in this series experience so much and this story is unlike any other. A unique read worth a read!
Girl of Fire and Thorns Series by Rae Carson
I cannot say enough good things about this series. Wholly unique and so very well written. The characters in this series are phenomenal and it illustrates what a great writer Rae Carson is. I alsorecommend this series to everyone!
Heart of the Fae | Veins of Magic by Emma Hamm
This is a recent read for me, but I really enjoyed it, even more than I thought I would. This light retelling of Beauty and the Beast mixed with Scottish and Irish mythology was a real gem. Another wholly unique story in the way it was told and I will definitely be reading her other work as well!
The Tiger's Curse Series by Colleen Houck
Lastly, we have this unique series featuring Indian mythology and tigers, oh my! This series takes you on a real journey and you change your perspective on the characters from book to book which I think shows real talent. Colleen is an amazing writer and I recommend this series as well as her others.
